When a man orphaned after a murder-suicide falls for a recovering anorexic childhood trauma and cultural differences send each of them into a downward spiral.
My intention was to write a romantic but honest love story. It had to showcase black love. It had to showcase the ups and downs of a relationship. It had to be edgy, dramatic, socially responsible, and sweet as pie. It had to be charming! I wanted my audience to experience a marriage built on an "old-fashioned" belief system in modern-day times. So-- I focused on what black people need most. WE NEED TO KNOW OURSELVES. Most notably, where we come from and what trauma we must heal from.
